ABOUT

Gene Alfred Garrett is a SAG-AFTRA actor, voiceover artist, and writer, whose work is grounded in truth, presence, and lived experience.  Raised in Inglewood, California, he developed a deep understanding of human behavior, resilience, and rhythm; elements that continue to shape his storytelling today.

Theatre, his first love, instilled the discipline and emotional precision that define his performances.  With over three decades in the industry, Garrett has built a career across theatre, television and film, with credits including Friday Night Lights, NYPD Blue, Lost Highway, Seasons of Gray, and most recently ABC’s R.J. Decker.  Known for portraying authoritative, layered, and complex characters, he brings a quiet power and authenticity to every role.

As a writer, Gene is the visionary behind VO4, a critically resonant short film that blends dark comedy, emotional intimacy, and urban realism to explore voice, masculinity, and mental health. His companion project, I Plead the F.I.T.H., boldly confronts the unspoken emotional struggles of Black men in America, carving a lane few dare to enter.

“I don’t just tell stories. I tell the ones most people are afraid to hear.”

— Gene Alfred Garrett
